How do I know the level of editing I need?
Important question! Send me your information through my Contact page.
I offer a two-page COMPLIMENTARY sample edit to determine the level your project requires. But once I complete an evaluation, it’s up to you to make the final decision.
Will having my manuscript professionally edited guarantee publication?
There are no guarantees. Getting published isn’t just about producing a well written book. It’s also about having the right project for the right market at the right time – but those change, too. Working with an editor will help in presenting your best, which may open doors to desired opportunities.
Do you work on all types of manuscripts?
I'm not qualified to edit poetry, children's books, or technical material. I also won't edit manuscripts that contain graphic violence or explicit sexual content.
What kind of format do you accept?
I accept hard-copy proofs or electronic documents. But I require that hard-copies be sent with a self-addressed, stamped envelope for returning the edited document to you.
Manuscript pages should be double-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman, with 1” margins all around. All fees are based on this format.
How much will it cost?
My price depends on the level of service your project requires. As shown on my Services page, I charge by the page, rather than by the hour, so you know exactly how much you can expect to pay from the beginning. There won’t be any surprise fees.
Are all fees paid up front?
I offer a flexible fee schedule to best meet your particular needs. Fees may be paid in installments with payments made in advance of each block of work. You are welcome to pay by personal check or PayPal. I begin work once your payment clears.
How long will it take?
Depending on the level of service required and the length of your project, we can come to an agreement. It’s my goal to help you finish this project so that you can move forward toward completing your goal.
What's my next step?
You can reach me through my Contact page.
Tell me about your project and include:
•The level of edit you feel is needed •The manuscript’s genre •What your book is about (a sentence or two is fine) •Word count •Your intended audience
